Mug Design Made Easy
Mugs are a subtle yet powerful form of self-expression. After all, how else would we know not to talk to someone before they’ve had their coffee if their mug didn’t warn us? A well-chosen mug reflects personal taste, making it both a functional and aesthetic statement.
Designing for mugs, however, hasn’t always been the easiest task—especially when trying to create a perfectly aligned double-sided design. Placing your artwork just right often required endless adjustments. But thanks to a simple update from our engineers, that hassle is now a thing of the past!

So, What’s Changed?
If you upload a square or portrait design—or even a standalone PNG—your artwork will now automatically be placed on both the front and back of the mug. No more manual adjustments or guesswork—just upload your design, and it will be positioned for maximum visibility from either side.
This update not only makes designing easier for you but also improves the experience for your customers. Whether they’re right-handed or left-handed, they’ll always see the design while enjoying their drink. Plus, the double-sided placement ensures that anyone nearby can appreciate the artwork, making your mugs more eye-catching and appealing.

What About Landscape Designs?
If you’re uploading a landscape design, don’t worry—nothing has changed! Your artwork will still wrap around the mug as before. However, it’s important to note how your design appears on different mug styles, especially between Classic and Tall Mugs.
In the uploader, designs are applied to both the standard and tall mugs simultaneously. To help you visualize how your design will appear on each, we’ve created a custom template you can use.
In the template, you’ll notice two grey bars at the top and bottom—these indicate areas that are only visible on the tall mug. While this means portions of your design may be cropped out on the classic mug, you can plan ahead by adding hidden details that will only appear on the tall version. This way, both mugs maintain a balanced and polished look while giving your customers a stylish choice between two formats.

Creating All Over Prints Are Easy
An all-over pattern works beautifully on mugs because it seamlessly wraps around the entire surface, regardless of the mug size. If you have a single motif, you can easily transform it into a repeating pattern to create a striking all-over design.

With this update, single motifs will now automatically appear on both the front and back of the mug—no more fussing with placement! If you’re working with a landscape wrap, don’t worry, nothing’s changed there. It’s a little update that makes a big difference, so you can spend less time adjusting and more time creating.
Now’s the perfect time to refresh those old mug designs and give them a makeover that’ll catch your customers’ attention. Happy designing!
