Product News: We’ve Launched Masks on Redbubble

Since the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, there have been a number of recommendations from governments and health organizations around the world to wear a face mask in public. Over the past few weeks, many artists have contacted us asking if they could sell masks printed with their art on Redbubble. By introducing masks we hope we can support our artist community and have a positive impact on the world during this uncertain time.

For every mask sold, we’ll be donating a mask to Heart to Heart International. Heart to Heart International works with volunteers, partners, and donors to make healthcare more accessible. They have launched international, domestic, and local responses to COVID-19.

Donated masks will be given to people who are in line for drive through testing, before they get to the testing station. They will also be used in hospitals and clinics for non-frontline workers, including administrative staff and hospital workers who are delivering food to patients.

Product Details

Masks have two layers of washable 100% brushed woven polyester. The print is on the outer layer. They have over-ear elastic straps for a snug fit over mouth and nose. Masks come in one size and fit most adults.

These cloth face masks are for general public use only. They are not intended for use in medical settings. (More legal info here.) They are not surgical masks, personal protective equipment, or N-95 respirators. Those critical resources are reserved for healthcare workers who are on the front lines.

  2. Scroll to your design, click on the cog icon and select “Edit”
  3. Scroll down to the new masks tile and check you’re happy with your design
  4. Tick “Enable” and click “Apply changes”
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Save work”

Content Guidelines

It’s important we’re respectful of those who have been directly impacted by COVID-19, particularly key workers who are under enormous stress, and people who have sadly lost loved ones. For that reason, we’ve introduced some content guidelines for masks. We ask that you please read the guidelines before adding your designs.

File Dimensions and Customizing Your Design

If you’re creating new designs, the file dimensions for masks are 2380 x 1630 px. If you’d like to customize a design specifically for the product you can use ‘Replace image’ to upload a file just for masks.

Masks Design Template

We’ve created a template that shows the edge of the mask and the bleed area. Please make sure your design fills the whole template. Masks are created individually, so the area between the safe zone and the finished sewn product allows for a small amount of variation in how the edge is trimmed. It’s best to keep the most important parts of your design within the safe zone.

Right click and save the design template below as a PNG file. To use the template, open or import the file into your editing software as a separate layer. Create a new layer for your design and adjust the opacity so you can see the template underneath.

So now it’s over to you to do what you do best. We’re all adjusting to a new normal. Your creativity is helping to make that adjustment a little easier. In this case, it’s also providing a way for people to express themselves and connect with others at a time when we’re physically distancing and spending more time apart. We hope this latest product will help to ease the pressures on healthcare workers, and hopefully, it will help to support you too. We can’t wait to see what new designs you come up with.
