Coming Soon: Throw Blankets
We’re excited to announce we’ll be launching Throw Blankets in the coming weeks. Customers won’t be able to see them yet, but they’re available in the uploader now so you have plenty of time to add new work and get your shop ready. This post covers everything you need to know about Throw Blankets, how to upload new designs and enable existing ones, plus tips and inspiration for designing for our newest product.

About Throw Blankets
Soft, fuzzy and super-cosy, Throw Blankets are both practical and decorative. Perfect for draping artistically over sofas, beds and chairs, they’ll also keep you warm when your housemate keeps turning off the heating.
Throw Blankets are made from 100% polyester fleece with an edge to edge sublimation print. Your art is printed on the front with a solid white on the reverse. And they’re machine washable should you have a little accident while watching Game of Thrones.
Throw Blankets come in three sizes:
Small – 101 cm wide x 76 cm high
Medium – 152 cm wide x 127 cm high
Large – 203 cm wide x 152 cm high
Enabling Existing Designs and Adding New Ones
Throw Blankets and Wall Tapestries are grouped together as one tile in the uploader as they are the same file size. If you are enabling an existing artwork, you need to navigate to the Throw Blankets & Wall Tapestries tile, click on the wheel, tick the Throw Blanket box and apply changes.
We’ve automatically enabled some of the top selling designs so if you have sold a Wall Tapestry in the past, your work may already be enabled in the uploader and ready to go.
If you are designing a new Throw Blanket, the file dimensions are 7632 pixels by 6480 pixels. This includes the bleed so don’t forget to allow for a small amount of cropping around the edges. See our Dimensions and Format guide if you need more info on designing for Redbubble products.
You won’t be able to bulk enable Throw Blankets (via the Manage Portfolio page) until we officially launch later in May. If you want to enable any existing Tapestries as Throw Blankets, you’ll need to do this individually for now, so you may want to focus on your top sellers or personal faves first.
Design Inspiration
Throw Blankets look great with any style of artwork but if you’re looking for some inspiration or want to tap into seasonal trends, here are a few tips.
Customers are looking for decorative accessories to drape over beds, sofas and chairs in different rooms of the house and Throw Blankets are a great way to update dorms, bedrooms, spare rooms and lounges. We expect they’ll be a popular choice when students head back to school in a few months so you could think about themes that suit a younger audience to market during that time. Remember that the northern hemisphere heads into winter just as the holiday period starts so this will also be a great time to market designs.
