Welcome Our Newest Artist-In-Residence: Nyki Way
Digital Artist and Social Media Superstar
They applied. They were awesome. They became Redbubble Artists-in-Residence.
5 artists are moving into Redbubble’s Melbourne and San Francisco offices to work on specialized creative projects lasting 3 to 6 months. And to have a bunch of fun.
Nyki Way has officially joined as our first San Francisco Resident. To say we’re pumped is an understatement.
Originally from Boulder, Colorado, and a graduate of the Academy of Art in San Francisco, Nyki has been drawing for as long as she can remember. She works tirelessly to push, learn, and improve. Inspired by the world around her, and fascinated by her fellow human, one of the focuses of Nyki’s work is the function of society and interpersonal relationships. She refers to her style as super-saturated, colorful, and trendy. With a hearty sprinkle of strange.
As part of the Redbubble Residency program, Nyki will be working on a social media marketing guide for the everyday artist.
1. Describe your work in 7 words or less.
A little street and little sweet!
2. Tell us about the project you will be working on while in the RB residency program?
I’ll be working on an e-book focused on social media marketing for the everyday artist. In today’s evolving digital world, social media is becoming a tool that everyone—especially artists—need to know to promote themselves. So, I want to help artists do exactly that.
3. Name a fear of yours.
Deathly afraid of nuclear war. I don’t know why, I’ve obviously never been in one, but the impending doom idea always gets to me. I’m the kind of person to worry, so if I get thinking about it enough I’ll set myself into a nuclear fear frenzy!
4. What is something most people don’t know about you?
I’m an open book. My entire life is on the internet. I really don’t have anything that people don’t know about me. One thing I don’t advertise is that I am a certified rescue SCUBA diver, so if that situation ever does come up, I can save your life, although I’d prefer we let real professionals take care of you!
5. If you could go back in time, what would you tell your younger artist self?
If I met my previous self, I wouldn’t be who I am today, so I would want her to do exactly what she was doing. If I could tell another artist what they should be doing, it would be to work really hard, set goals, & take some time to just scribble!
The best way to keep up with Nyki’s latest creations and projects, is by following her on Redbubble and Instagram. Also, make sure to sign up for our blog email updates (bottom of this page) and follow Redbubble Create on Instagram to keep up to date with all of the residents.
Please help us welcome our newest resident artist.
