Open Discussion: What’s Your Dream Day as an Artist?
If you could sit down and come up with the ultimate day that would help you be a better, leaner, more creative-er outpourer of imagination and vibrancy, what would you do? How would you spend your time, and perhaps most importantly, who with?
Days can be imagined or practical. They can be attainable or spent with fictional characters. We want to hear about what would help you? Do you need to be on a mountaintop near the Equator, meditating, sketching and far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life? Or do you need to spend 8 hours in a Paris saloon with Hemingway, F. Scott Fitzgerald, and the impressionists arguing about fractals of light in paint?
Perhaps a day in New York in the ’70s hanging out in Chelsea? Or you might prefer a day in the Tate Modern taking notes? Would you be with a best friend, a fellow artist, your partner? And what is on the menu? Perhaps a 6 hour lunch of fried chicken and bourbon with your closest friends and artists?
It’s ridiculously fun to imagine a dream day as an artist. It’s a good way to dream about the future and really think about what you need at the moment. We hope you share and discuss your ideas about what would be the ultimate day for you as an artist in the comments below.
