Daily Inspiration: Brian Webb on Making Design Happen
"I would show my jobs to my mother, and she would always say the same thing: 'That’s nice dear.' And then she would say, 'Did you write it?' or 'Did you do the drawing?' or 'Did you take the pictures?' I’d always answer 'no,' then I realized the problem. My answer was then, 'I made this happen. It’s called design.'"
For today’s Daily Inspiration we turn to designer Brian Webb who addresses a lifelong struggle of many creatives and artists: our moms don’t get us. But, as Webb says above, that’s okay. It’s all in how you frame your work. Sure, maybe you didn’t draw the drawing, maybe you didn’t write the words, maybe you didn’t complete the project with your own hands, but it was you “made this happen.” You are the designer. It came from your brain. Be proud.
