Rubber band and Scotch Tape portraits are awesomely disconcerting
Well these are troubling.
Photographer Wes Naman has certainly carved out his own niche with the following series of portraits featuring various ladies and gentlemen posing pretty for the camera while their faces are massively contorted by rubber bands and Scotch Tape.
His subjects, particularly those in the rubber band series, are mostly musicians from metal bands and the like, so these images certainly shatter the traditional rock portrait mold.
I can’t help but think of this as an incredibly extreme version of Pee Wee Herman’s tape face bit from his morning routine in Pee Wee’s Big Adventure.
“I know you are but what am I?”
“A rubber band face!”
The nightmares, they are a-comin’!
