Digital Sticker Challenge

One of the most exciting new things to come to your iPhone is digital stickers. Like the standard emojis available in many iOS apps, digital stickers are perfect for adding a little something extra to your conversations. Millions of people all over the world are downloading stickers packs from the app store and using them thousands of times a day, and they could be sharing your art. Since we absolutely love stickers, we thought the next best step would be to introduce digital stickers designed by Redbubble artists. Having said that:

Over the next 4 weeks we’ll issue you a sticker challenge, taking place on Instagram.

  • We give you a theme that’s sticker-worthy.
  • You use the theme to create a NEW sticker design.
  • You upload the design to your RB shop as a sticker using #digistickie.
  • You share your work on Instagram using #digistickie and tagging @redbubble.
  • You could win $25 and the chance for your work to be featured and available in the iMessage app store as a free sticker pack.

Each challenge will be centered around popular interests, social trends, and general emoji styles. In addition to your design possibly being available as a digital sticker, you will also be offering it up as a physical sticker in your shops, which is one of our best selling products. Win-win.

See the current challenge below, and remember to keep checking this blog post as we will be updating it with each new challenge. Now a message from our legal team. Read the full terms and conditions here

Week 2 – Funny

The second week of the challenge is to design a new digital sticker that will make anyone laugh out loud . To enter simply upload your new funny sticker to your RB shop as a sticker using #digistickie—it’s also a good idea to enable it on all products—and then share the design on Instagram using the hashtag #digistickie and tag @redbubble.

All entries must be uploaded before Thursday 19th, 11:59pm PST

For your promotional needs, we have a digital sticker mockup template to help showcase your new design, and give an idea of how the stickers will look when in use. Download our new Digital Sticker Template (Example Below) – The PSD version works much like our previous template, and the text bubbles are also editable.

Week 1 – Food

The first week of the challenge is to design a digital sticker featuring food. To enter simply upload your new food sticker to your RB shop as a sticker using #digistickie—it’s also a good idea to enable it on all products—and then share the design on Instagram using the hashtag #digistickie and tag @redbubble.

All entries must be uploaded before Thursday 12th, 11:59pm PST.

Here are some tips to help when designing digital stickers.

  1. Your stickers will be shown on a small screen so stick to a 1:1 ratio, stickers that are too tall or wide won’t work well.
  2. Stickers should be conversational. Focus on expressions, reactions, and elements that make a quick impact.
  3. Make sure the sticker is transparent just like the vinyl stickers. See some sticker best practices here.
  4. Digital stickers will also be available as vinyl stickers on the site, so they should meet our sticker guidelines.
