Daily Inspiration: David Byrne’s Dreamlike World

"I sense the world might be more dreamlike, metaphorical, and poetic than we currently believe--but just as irrational as sympathetic magic when looked at in a typically scientific way. I wouldn't be surprised if poetry--poetry in the broadest sense, in the sense of a world filled with metaphor, rhyme, and recurring patterns, shapes, and designs--is how the world works. The world isn't logical, it's a song."

You probably know David Byrne from Talking Heads, but he’s also a prolific writer, artist, and creative entity of all sorts of mediums. In his travelogue¬†turned philosophical life musings book “Bicycle Diaries,” he’s collated his journals reflecting on his life riding around New York City. Today’s Daily Inspiration is just a snippet from his stories and observations that look back upon his most memorable moments as a cyclist, citizen, and artist in New York.
